DPL Energy Resources and DP&L Energy are licensed to serve Dayton Power & Light (DP&L) customers. Unlike other competitive providers who come in from out of state or serve customers all over the country, we are invested in the Miami Valley for the long-term, with employees who live, work and play in your community.

Pricing Lower than Your Regulated Utility Can Offer

When you work with DPL Energy Resources and DP&L Energy, we’ll supply the generation and transmission of your electricity at a discounted rate, and Dayton Power & Light will continue to deliver your electricity.

As a regulated utility, Dayton Power & Light’s rates for electric generation service are fixed by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.  Regulated utilities in Ohio generally cannot provide discounted rates.

DPL Energy Resources and DP&L Energy are not utilities and only provide generation and transmission services, like all other certified retail electric service providers in Ohio.
 
Delivery of electricity to homes and businesses is regulated and can only be provided by the utility, Dayton Power & Light. 

DPL Inc., the parent company of DPL Energy Resources, was acquired by The AES Corporation on November 28, 2011. With the acquisition, AES made a $4.6 billion investment in the Miami Valley and is interested in maintaining DPL’s presence in the community for the long term.
